When injected into the fat beneath the chin, it works to destroy these fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. It’s a unique solution to a common aesthetic concern that many people face due to aging, genetics, or weight changes.
One of the most noticeable benefits of this treatment is the enhanced contours it provides to the face and chin. Since this treatment destroys the fat cells in the treated area, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat in the future. It’s important to note, however, that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is key to preserving the results, as weight gain can lead to the enlargement of remaining fat cells.

We begin with a detailed one-hour consultation with every new client, where we explore your specific concerns, skin health history, medical conditions, and any questions you might have. This comfortable, no-pressure environment enables us to devise a customized treatment plan that best addresses your needs. During the treatment itself, the area under your chin is thoroughly cleansed, and the treatment is injected using tiny needles. The number of injections depends on your individual treatment goals and the amount of submental fat present. On average, the treatment takes about 20 minutes, and you might require multiple sessions spaced a month apart to achieve optimal results.
This treatment is suitable for adults over the age of 18 who have moderate to severe fat deposits under the chin, known as submental fullness. Ideal candidates are those who, despite leading a healthy lifestyle, are unable to get rid of this excess fat. However, KYBELLA® might not be suitable for everyone, including those with severe loose skin or pronounced platysmal bands.
Certain conditions might contraindicate the use of this treatment. These include, but are not limited to, pregnancy, breastfeeding, infection in the treatment area, history of dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), and an unstable medical status. Additionally, people with a history of bleeding disorders or who are currently on blood-thinning medication should consult with their healthcare provider before considering KYBELLA®.
In preparation for treatment, we recommend avoiding blood-thinning medications and supplements, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and vitamin E, for about a week before the treatment, unless otherwise directed by your healthcare provider. It’s also important to disclose your full medical history, including any medications or supplements you’re currently taking, during your consultation. On the day of treatment, come with a clean, makeup-free neck and chin area.
Immediately following your treatment, it’s advisable to avoid strenuous activities for at least 24–48 hours. This downtime allows your body to work on processing the treatment and dying fat cells without interruption. It’s also advisable to avoid direct sunlight, saunas, and hot showers for a few days following the treatment.
If you need to be outside, make sure to wear a sun-protective hat and apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Drinking plenty of water and maintaining a balanced diet will support your body during this time. Unless advised otherwise by your healthcare provider, continue to avoid blood-thinning medications or supplements for a few days after the treatment to reduce the risk of bruising.
